Executive Function Coaching
Executive functioning skills are the brain-based abilities we use to manage time, plan ahead, stay organized, start tasks, and regulate emotions. These skills are essential for success at school, at home, and in daily life—but for many children, teens, and young adults, they don’t come naturally.
At Empower Pediatric Therapy, our Executive Function Coaching supports individuals from early childhood through young adulthood in building the skills they need to be more independent, confident, and successful in their daily routines.
Who Can Benefit from Executive Function Coaching?
Executive functioning challenges can show up in a variety of ways and are often seen in individuals with ADHD, Autism, anxiety, learning disabilities, or simply those who are struggling to stay on top of life’s demands.
Common signs include:
- Difficulty starting or finishing homework or chores
- Trouble organizing school materials or personal items
- Forgetting to bring home assignments or turn them in
- Emotional outbursts or frustration when things don’t go as planned
- Trouble managing time or keeping track of deadlines
- Challenges following multi-step directions or shifting between tasks
Our Approach
Executive Function Coaching at Empower is individualized, strengths-based, and goal-driven. We use a combination of therapeutic strategies, coaching tools, and hands-on practice to help each client:
- Build planning, organization, and time management skills
- Learn strategies for task initiation and follow-through
- Strengthen self-monitoring and impulse control
- Improve emotional regulation and frustration tolerance
- Develop routines and systems that work for their brain and lifestyle
Our sessions may incorporate visuals, planners, timers, movement-based learning, mindfulness, or digital tools—depending on the client’s age and preferences. We also work closely with families to ensure that strategies carry over into home and school environments.
Whether your child is struggling with school routines, your teen is overwhelmed by academic demands, or your young adult is preparing for increased independence, we’re here to help them thrive with tools that support long-term success.
