What to Expect
Initial Inquiry/Intake Phone Call
When you reach out to Empower Pediatric Therapy, you will speak with one of our patient care coordinators. This is your opportunity to share details about your child and your concerns. Our patient care coordinator will explain the various programs we offer at Empower Pediatric Therapy. On that call, we will begin to navigate the insurance process, and we can schedule the appropriate evaluations with our therapy team.
If you prefer, you can begin the process with an email to our patient care team at [email protected].

Evaluation
Your initial evaluations will be scheduled based on the information gathered in the intake call. If your child needs multiple services, each specialist will perform their own evaluation. These evaluations are designed to identify your child’s specific challenges and to develop a personalized care plan tailored to your family’s needs.
While we can’t learn everything about your child in the initial assessment, the information we gather serves as starting point in your therapy journey with us. Once therapy begins and we get to know your child more, the plan of care can be adjusted and finely tuned.
Evaluation reports are finalized within two weeks and can be accessed via our patient portal. Although our standard practice is to start therapy immediately, we can schedule a report review meeting if you prefer a detailed discussion of our findings. Note that these meetings are billed as out-of-pocket expenses as insurance usually covers only direct therapy sessions.

Scheduling Therapy
Once the evaluations are complete and it is determined that your child will benefit from our services, our team will work with you to schedule therapy sessions that fit your family’s schedule. Our patient care coordinators are here to ensure you find convenient times for your appointments.

Therapy & Consultation
Most therapy sessions are individual (1:1) sessions with a single provider. If appropriate, your child’s therapy plan may include co-treatment sessions involving more than one therapist (e.g., an SLP and OT) collaborating together.
There are also opportunities for small group sessions (dyads or triads) based on client compatibility and availability. Insurance coverage for co-treatment and group sessions may vary.
Individual Therapy Sessions:
Duration: Either 30 minutes or 45 minutes (includes 25 or 38 minutes of face-to-face treatment time and a brief parent conference at the end)
Parents are encouraged but not required to join sessions, especially for new clients or young children. Parents can observe, participate, and ask questions to better understand the targeted concepts. They will also receive feedback and strategies to practice at home.
